This may account as to why most of the newcomers (Sheridan, Turner, Smit-McPhee) were more interesting. They were beginning their journey, while the others going through the motions.

Up to a point, I can see a reasoning for the focus on Lawrence (she among the cast is the only real 'big-name'). Fassbender & McAvoy are well-respected, but not "stars" on her level.

I can only hope that with "Logan", Jackman's run will finally end (and on a high note). He's iconic as Wolverine, but the constant attention to him is now a hindrance. So many HAD to see him in a cameo to where it's almost expected. As great as Jackman is as Wolverine, he cannot be the center of every X-Men film (or even a cameo in one).Rickhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16611922269342141654noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6334926894764753088.post-60111639937948576992016-11-25T06:30:50.324-07:002016-11-25T06:30:50.324-07:00Fassbender looked bored throughout and especially ...Fassbender looked bored throughout and especially in the climactic fight scene as he did the usual Magneto thing (lifting all sorts of metallic objects). Can't blame him - Magneto was the central character in X-Men:First Class and since has been consistently sidelined in favor of Jennifer Lawrence's Mystique. If it was Wolverine in the Bryan Singer movies, this time it is Lawrence's Mystique who hogs the limelight.

Mystique is an anti-hero at best, even when she leads the X-Men. In this franchise, she is the hero. The producers are to be blamed for making the decision to shift the focus to her character.

Hopefully Fassbender will find better success with his upcoming movie: Assassin's Creed.

Agree about Tye Sheridan's performance. He has the potential to be the definitive Cyclops/Scott Summers. Provided the new franchise will not again shift focus from the # 1 X-Man of all time (like Bryan Singer did).

B2B.Arunhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16498276962097853996noreply@blogger.com
