83rd Academy Awards Nominee Suggestions

One of the terrible effects of the massive winter storms in early February was the fact that we had major power outages and were virtually under house arrest. As a result of the ensuing chaos, I was unable to get to my own selections for the Best of 2010. At last, now I am able to get down to my list. Now, I don't have a name for these endeavours (any suggestions would be nice: the closest I got was Letters of Transit, but frankly, that just sounds silly).

Therefore, without further ado, let's get down to My Nominees.

Now, it should be noted I only nominated those which I have seen and written of as of today, so if something you think should have been included, keep that detail in mind. I would have liked five nominees in every category but alas, sometimes I couldn't find enough.

Let's face it: a lot of 2010 was absolute junk. It's only in the last month or so of the year that a vast majority of the good films came our way, and then they took longer to play here in El Paso because this is a second or even third-tier market. We West Texans, especially in a majority Hispanic city, wouldn't be interested in dramas about King George VI or loony ballet dancers, the mindset goes.

We'd much rather watch things like Takers or Little Fockers, you know, things more at our intelligence level. Note The Sarcasm.

Well, by Saturday I'll announce my winners. Suggestions and opinions always welcome.
